What is PastureSmarts
PastureSmarts is a premium SaaS and mobile application operating at the top end of the highly competitive agtech market.
Developed as an initiative by Agriculture Victoria Services, the platform helps farmers manage pasture more effectively by centralising grazing records and using predictive insights to estimate pasture availability across paddocks.

The product is currently tailored to the specific needs and operational realities of the dairy industry, supporting more informed, data-driven grazing decisions.

The software utilises a historical climate data model which has been
developed by scientists over the last 15 years. -
Provides estimates of pasture yield through use of

User Tested on real farmers
The software was tested at three different farms in rural Victoria, the main findings where:

Farmers wanted a simple way to move a herd from one paddock to the next
from the Farm View. -
​Simple way to input data while out in the farm environment.

Farmers have what we termed ‘Fat Fingers” so larger touch areas had to be implemented into the UI design.
